Responsibilities

The Colorado Springs EHS Specialist will lead the site's Environmental Compliance programs. This will include oversight in the areas of air, water, wastewater, hazardous waste and chemical management. Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the Colorado Springs site. Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) works in a proactive partnership with the business units to protect our employees, our community and the environment.

The Colorado Springs EHS Specialist's primary responsibility will be to manage regulatory compliance for all Environmental programs. This will include program management, regulatory submittals, interface with regulatory agencies, response to environmental incidents, change management, and documentation. Desired areas of experience include:

  • Contractor EHS Management
  • Chemical safety program management
  • Performing EHS inspections & assessments such as general building safety, PPE, machine guarding, chemical safety, hazardous waste management
  • Program development and implementation.
  • Emergency Response Management
  • Environmental plans, permits, reporting, etc. (air, water, wastewater, hazardous waste, etc.)
  • EHS & ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits and program development
  • Documentation and record keeping

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field OR 5-7 years of experience in related industry.
  • Collaborative approach to working with EHS colleagues, business unit customers, and regulatory agencies
  • Experience with and understanding of hazardous chemicals
  • Experience with the management of environmental regulatory programs, including a working knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements
  • Ability to participate in hands-on hazardous materials activities, including incident response
  • Desired qualifications:
    • Certifications such as CHMM, or PE
    • Experience in the implementation of EHS management systems such as ISO 14001 or ISO 45001
    • Cal/OSHA HAZWOPER certification (24-hour Haz Mat Technician, 40-hour, or Incident Commander)
    • Ability to wear an SCBA
