POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Tooling Engineer enhances existing designs as well as developing new tooling for programs. This includes preparing blueprints for mechanical parts and providing technical support to the manufacturing team. The Tooling Engineer will improve our production efficiency and ensure our products meet the highest quality standards. PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES

  • Manage metal stamping dies for the production line to ensure quality products are produced efficiently.
  • Formulate tooling maintenance plans and schedule preventative maintenance based upon necessary cadence.
  • Develop and implement tooling catalog system and database for tracking maintenance and repair of tooling.
  • Provide technical guidance and task arrangement for tool and die technicians.
  • Prepare tooling related materials during internal and external audits, and respond to requests for information related to tooling.
  • Quote, develop and accept new project tooling to ensure the smooth production of new projects.
  • Implement problem solving techniques to identify and improve upon abnormal situations involving metal stamping dies.
  • Provide technical solutions when repairing tooling, evaluate the cost and effect of tooling repair.
  • Use CAD or AutoCAD to analyze existing tooling designs and improve upon them.
  • Develop blueprints for new tooling designs as per project specifications.
  • Share designs with colleagues and implement any relevant feedback in the new designs.
  • Develop prototypes and test new designs.
  • Carry out quality assurance tests on new designs.
  • Travel to other manufacturing plants and technical center to gather information and liaise with manufacturing, engineering and design teams.
  • Create blueprints and designs using CAD or AutoCAD.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors to ensure the best quality, cost, and feasibility solutions.
  • Remain updated and current with new developments in the Engineering field by expanding networks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Master's degree is preferable.
  • Portfolio of previous work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
  • Practical experience using CAD and AutoCAD software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical skills.
  • Excellent eye for detail.
  • Ability to lead others and foster a team-oriented environment.
